I ran my first race last Saturday. The only time I’d ever run 3 miles without stopping before Saturday was on the Wednesday beforehand when I ran the course with some friends. My time was 28min 58sec, which doesn’t mean a whole lot to me, because I’m just so thankful that I ran the course without walking even though I wanted to walk the majority of the time that I was running. I wouldn’t call myself a runner. I played soccer a little in high school and a little club soccer my freshman year of college, but never have I run just for fun. I actually wouldn’t even call it fun. It was kind of painful and incredibly challenging mentally when I wanted to quit almost before I started… But, I did start and I did finish and I just might do it again since I’m now indoctrinated into the running world… With a second place medal to boot.

We’ve sold out of our first soapscription boxes!!! I can hardly believe the support and encouragement that we’ve been receiving from everyone on this new venture that we’ve started. Andy’s got jury duty this week. It’s so strange for him to not be on the farm, but the kids and I decided to take a little off-farm trip of our own, so we went to town for some errands and fun. I didn’t take any photos of our time at the library, park or…

I’m terrible about remembering dates and celebrating special occasions. One of my goals this year (I have a few and I just found my notebook with some passwords/logins since I forgot the blog log-in and rediscovered the goals I wrote down at the beginning of the year) was to make much ado about special occasions….

I’ve got two herbs that I hope to always grow. Whether in planters or in the ground, no matter the season of life or where we live, these two little plants bring so much joy. One is lemon balm which is just my all time favorite. Grabbing a handful and inhaling the sweet aroma is…

I’ve signed my brood up for a nature club. It’s a monthly gathering of a small group of like minded mamas and kiddos who will meet and take nature walks and observe and document our findings in our nature journals. The group is Charlotte Mason inspired and I am eager to implement some of her…
